Mehdi Rizvi is currently the Head of GIZ’s Revenue Administration Support (RAS) Program in Nepal. Funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the program focuses on taxation of digital economy, improving voluntary tax compliance as well as investigation and prevention of illicit financial flows. Before taking up his current position in Nepal, he served as the Team Leader for a subnational revenue project for GIZ Pakistan focusing on fiscal decentralization. Mehdi is a graduate of the London School of Economics and started his career with the consulting sector working for Ernst and Young. Later, he joined the public sector and played a key role in establishing the Audit Quality Management Wing of SAI Pakistan, which he also headed for several years as the Senior Audit Quality Specialist. Prior to joining GIZ, Mehdi worked as a Public Financial Management Consultant for the World Bank. He has been advising various governments in Asia on matters related to tax policy and implementation.
