Christian von Haldenwang is a senior researcher with the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS), located in the city of Bonn. He holds an M.A. in Political Science and Philosophy and a PhD in Political Science from University of Tübingen. Between 2003 and 2007 he was GTZ programme coordinator at the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Santiago de Chile. Christian is the co-lead of the “Global Tax Expenditures Database” (GTED), a project carried out in collaboration with the Council on Economic Policies (CEP). He also co-leads a project on “Transformative urban coalitions”, financed by the International Climate Initiative (IKI), and he is the IDOS regional coordinator for Latin America. His activities in research and consultancy cover issues of taxation, decentralisation & urban governance, digitalisation, and legitimacy. As a guest lecturer at Université Clermont Auvergne, Christian teaches a master course on decentralisation.
