Alastair Thomas is a Senior Economist (Tax) in the Fiscal Policy and Sustainable Growth Unit of the World Bank. Prior to joining the Bank in August 2021, he was a Senior Economist in the OECD’s Centre for Tax Policy and Administration, where he worked for 13 years. He began his career as a tax policy analyst for the New Zealand Inland Revenue Department. He holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and a PhD from Victoria University of Wellington.
