Mining Taxation

Natural resources rents, including mining rents, provide a source of non-distorting taxation that should be fully exploited by developing countries. An efficient mining taxation framework should take into account several aspects of extractive industries, from the need to attract significant specific investments and to negotiate contracts with powerful international companies, to the transparency needed to discipline potentially corrupt decision makers.

Experts in this panel will present different initiatives to measure accurately, and design mining taxes and to reinforce citizens information in developing countries
